Owned by Vonita and her daughter Taleena, Diggity Dawgs is a true family-run business that started with a vision, a dream, and a whole lot of determination. After years of working as a driver for Providence, Vonita made the brave decision to leave the security of her job behind and invest her hard-earned savings into creating something of her own. She found a small space — once a hair salon — and turned it into her blank canvas. With her own hands, she rebuilt it from the ground up, transforming it into the bright, flavor-packed shop that Diggity Dawgs is today.

Taleena, just as passionate, decided to take the leap alongside her mom. She left her own job to join Vonita full-time, determined to help bring their shared vision to life. From day one, Taleena has been a huge part of the heart and soul of Diggity Dawgs — not just helping run the business, but building real relationships with every customer who walks through the door. Her warmth, positivity, and commitment to great service are a big reason why people keep coming back, feeling more like family than customers.

We had the pleasure of meeting Vonita and Taleena during an outreach visit through Fourth Plain Forward, in partnership with Workforce Southwest Washington. From the moment we connected, it was clear they brought something special to the table. Since then, they’ve stepped into our small business programs with so much openness, drive, and gratitude, always eager to learn, grow, and take their dreams to the next level.

But their vision goes far beyond just the four walls of their shop. Vonita and Taleena dream of opening Diggity Dawgs locations in every state, creating spaces where community, good food, and opportunity come together. They also have a huge heart for mentorship, hoping to launch a program that supports youth — especially those who haven’t had access to business guidance or a clear path toward entrepreneurship.
