Spotlight on Hidden Gem Salon: A Story of Growth, Service, and Community Connection

At Fourth Plain Forward, our mission is to support and uplift small businesses throughout Clark County by providing access to resources, education, and meaningful connections. As part of our outreach efforts—made possible in partnership with Workforce Southwest Washington and supported by the Washington State Department of Commerce—we’ve had the honor of connecting with business owners who are not only talented in their craft but also committed to continuous learning and growth.

One of those entrepreneurs is Yecenia, owner of Hidden Gem Salon, a vibrant and inclusive beauty salon in Vancouver, WA. During a recent visit, Senior Program Coordinator Johana Pavas Terán had the chance to meet with Yecenia and learn more about her inspiring journey as a business owner and leader.

Hidden Gem Salon offers a wide range of beauty and self-care services, including haircuts, barbering, manicures, pedicures, coloring, highlights, and waxing. But beyond their service menu, what truly sets this business apart is its warm, welcoming approach and commitment to serving clients from all backgrounds and languages. Yecenia and her team use technology to streamline the customer experience while ensuring that every client feels seen, valued, and confident.

Yecenia’s dedication to professional growth is just as inspiring as her customer care. In January, she and her team attended the Branding Workshop hosted by Fourth Plain Forward in partnership with Workforce Southwest Washington. Later, she continued her learning journey by participating in both The Power of Networking and Mastering Your Elevator Pitch in March. Her consistent engagement with these resources reflects the kind of leadership we are proud to support—curious, proactive, and community-minded.

Yecenia is also one of the small business owners who benefited from a mini-grant, made available through our current program cycle. These grants are designed to help business owners invest in tools and equipment that enhance their service and impact.

Hidden Gem Salon is a reflection of everything our outreach work strives to elevate: excellence in service, openness to growth, and genuine connection to the community.

Stay tuned—we’ll soon be sharing a video featuring Yecenia’s story, her business, and her vision for the future.
